Baptism

"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful." Psalm 139:13-14

This past Sunday our sweet Eleanor was baptized at church.  We waited until Pat got home so he could take part in this very special event.  Ellie normally spends her time in the nursery during church but this morning she was very well behaved during the service.  She looked at books and flirted with people sitting around us in the pews.  She did keep us very busy though ;)
During the baptism when Reverend VanWie reached out to hold Ellie, she reached right back for him.  She looked at him very intently as he was talking.  When it was time for him to put the water on her head Ellie put her arm up at first to block it.  Then with a little of the Reverend's encouragement she put her arm down and let him put the water on her head.
After the prayer and he said "Amen",  Ellie responded with what sounded like "amen" too.  That got lots of laughs from the congregation :)

We weren't able to get pictures during the actual baptism, but our church service is recorded so we will get a DVD of the baptism.  I had really wanted to schedule Ellie's baptism for the weekend of Ellie's 1st birthday party so that our families could be here but unfortunately that wasn't possible.  I am very happy we have a DVD to share with our families and share with Ellie when she is older.

We are so blessed to have our beautiful daughter and a church we can call home here in New York.
It really was a great morning!

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30
